This weekend was pretty rainy and gloomy here in FL. Which, surprisingly, made for a good weekend. All the pressure of getting out and doing yard work and getting the grass cut was eliminated by the rain and we just took some time to relax on Sunday. We even baked cookies on Sunday (something we haven’t done in years). They were warm and tasty and we munched on them while watching the Redskins get blown away by the Patriots.
The pugs seemed to enjoy the downtime. Although, Benjamin & Luna were not happy about getting their paws wet on several occasions this weekend.
We also worked on putting the finishing touches on Benjamin, Henry & Luna’s Halloween Costumes. The boys’ costumes needed to be taken in at a few places, so they had the tough task of standing still while we measured, nipped and tucked. Henry did a good job, but this type of thing is nearly impossible for Benjamin. After he was released from captivity, he ran around the sofa for about ten minutes getting all of that energy that we stifled out of his system.
While the rain here was much needed, I kept thinking that our friends in California could use the rain way more than we could. I hope all the blog readers in Southern California are doing well and please know that we are thinking about you.

Cupid, being the thoughtful and generous cat that she is, likes to give me gifts. It is very sweet of her, but she has got to be one of the worst gift givers ever!
Last Friday, the cat was out enjoying the afternoon in the screened in area around our pool. She meowed at my office door to come in, like she does a thousand times a day, so I got up and let her in. She eagerly steps over the threshold, meows to get my attention and when I look down at her, she drops a gecko at my feet. I look at the gecko, then at the cat, who is so very happy with herself, and then the gecko makes a break for it and runs behind my computer rack in my office.
The cat let’s out a meow that lets me know that she is disappointed in how ungrateful I am and then turns her attention to the computer rack.

She camps out in front of the rack for about 5 minutes when she decides that she needs to take a nap. The weekend passes and there is no sign of the gecko anywhere. Not knowing how much fun the cat had with him before she brought him into the house, I assumed that I would find a dead gecko under my computers. On Monday, I was in my office working and I moved a little desktop scale that I have next to my computer monitor to make some room for something else. And what pops out from underneath the scale? A gecko! Needless to say it startled me a bit. The cat, who is sleeping on my desk, perks up and looks at the gecko and then looks at me to say, “There’s your present!”
So I spent the next 5 minutes trying to scoop up the gecko with some papers and get him outside while the cat lounged on the desk and watched. I finally caught the little guy and put him in some flowers in the yard. When I came back inside, there was the cat all snuggled up on my desk purring.

This weekend we went to the dog park so Benjamin, Henry & Luna could get out and run around a bit. The great thing about the dog park that we went to is that there are plenty of trees in the park, which means plenty of shade. This was great for the boys and Luna because it is still pretty hot here in FL.
There were a handful of small dogs there when we arrived so there were plenty of playmates for Benjamin, Henry & Luna. The boys, of course, took to a Pit Bull puppy that was rescued from the pound. This made me very nervous at first, but she was a real sweetheart and they made great playmates (she could handle the boys tag teaming her).
Luna found a couple of little dogs her size and chased them around for a while. I snapped a lot of pictures of her playing, but they all came out blurry! I guess I will have plenty of pics for the bloopers.
After playing for a bit, Henry made himself comfortable on a bench at the park and kept watch over everything that was going on.

Here we have Henry with last year’s scarecrow, a Baltimore Orioles fan (can you tell that we have not celebrated many sport victories in this house). Henry was borderline obsessed with this scarecrow. He treated the scarecrow like a real person and was always sitting at his feet and jumping up on his lap. He was pretty much begging for the scarecrow to pet him. As you can see in the picture, Henry and the scarecrow are deep into a conversation.
Looking forward to your captions in the comments!
Oh, and don’t forget to enter your picture into our Halloween Costume Contest!

Hello everyone! Thanks to all that have voted for Benjamin & Henry in the PetSource Halloween Costume Contest. The boys are currently in the lead, but there is a new “Sheriff” that is catching up quick! If you have the time please drop by and vote for the boys. You can vote up to one time a day and I believe the contest runs until Halloween. After you register the first time, voting is a lot easier. The quickest way to find the boys is to sort by Most Voted. Hopefully, we will still be at the top
The boys are dressed as Batman & Robin
If we win, $1,000 goes to Compassionate Pug Rescue. We would love to be able to win the money for them.
Thanks so much!

I have a question for all you pug lovers out there. When did your pugs start to go gray? Little Luna is about 4 years old, but as you can see her face is already very gray. The boys, on the other hand, are 5 years old and have a lot less gray. However, I did notice little bits of gray creeping in on their chins when they were about 2 years old. Right now, the are primarily gray on their chins with a little bit of gray on their face.
