Last weekend, we had a friend visiting from Maryland. One night we headed out for ice cream and when I saw they had pumpkin ice cream I knew I had to bring a doggie dish home for the pugs.
The only thing the pugs like better than when I bring home ice cream is if they get to go with me to get the ice cream. The ice cream shop is outdoor only and has several serving windows and the building itself has lots of very big windows so you can see what is going on inside. The windows have low ledges so if the pugs stand on their hind legs they can see inside. We mostly take the pugs in the summer and in the summer there are always long lines. It took a while, but the pugs have learned that they need to wait in line and can not simply rush up to the counter. I make the boys sit and they become intensely focused on the serving window and they anxiously scoot up each time the line moves. It is really the funniest thing to watch. When they get to the front of the line, it is paws up and they spend the whole time peering into the window. Luna passes the time by getting attention from everyone in line.
I know I have posted this picture before, but I think it is crying out for your captions so I wanted to post it again. Can’t wait to read your captions in the comments.
When I saw the pugs laying on the sofa like this I couldn’t help but laugh. The way they are laying reminds me of when of those brain teasers, “What comes next in the sequence…”. So we have pillow with squares, pug, brown pillow, gold pillow, pug, gold pillow, brown pillow, pug, pillow with squares. What would come next?
That’s a pug, always helping to keep you mentally sharp!.
This Diva shirt, from her Aunt Laurie, is the first present Luna ever received while living with us. She wears it well and has no problem at all living up to the title on the shirt.
A little over a week ago the 2009 Calendars went on sale and while it was an incredible exciting day, at the very end of it, I was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief! This is our fourth year making the calendar and I am very happy how this year’s calendar turned out. The calendar contest and the accompanying calendar is really one of my favorite parts of the site. It is a chance for me to see pictures of YOUR pugs! Each day, I post something about Benjamin, Henry & Luna and share a picture and as I read all of the comments I often wonder or try to imagine things in my head of what your adorable pugs look like. The calendar is a perfect opportunity for me to see your precious pugs. So, I want to take the time to thank everyone who submitted a picture. We received over 1,000 entries this year and, trust me, I looked at each picture submitted multiple times. Narrowing down the pictures and choosing which pictures get included in the calendar is by far the hardest part. There were so many pictures I wanted to put in, but there just wasn’t enough room on the pages. Do you guys really need all those empty grid squares for notes and appointments?
As with every other year, we are donating a portion of the proceeds from the calendar sale to a pug rescue organization. This year we are working with Central Florida Pug Rescue. We have attended a few of their events and are very happy to get the chance to work with them.
On a side note, I want to share a photo of a disgruntled Henry.
Each year, I take a picture of the pugs to include somewhere in the calendar. Well, this year, Henry was not the least bit cooperative. On our first attempt to get a picture of Henry he had a silly look on his face for every picture. After about 10 pictures, I took him to go potty, and wouldn’t you know that after that he was all smiles!
Thank you to everyone who submitted pictures and has bought or is going to buy a calendar. None of this would be possible without you!
Yesterday morning Baby Benny was busy throwing the pillows off the sofa when Henry sauntered into my office and asked to go up into the bin. Since Benny wasn’t using it, I lifted him up and put him in the bin. A few minutes later, Benny comes into the office and wants to go in his bin. I told him Henry already beat him to it, but he wasn’t taking no for an answer.
