When in Doubt, Charlie Out

Test Your Dog

We went to the bookstore this weekend and no trip to the bookstore would be complete without a stop in the Pet section. As we made our way over, I noticed a clearance table and I saw the book Test Your Dog The Dog IQ Test. I had seen this book before and flipped through it quickly, but now that it was "bargain priced" I couldn't resist getting it and taking the quiz for each one of the pugs.

When I got home, I flipped to the first question and it reads, "Does your dog recognize the signs that indicate you are preparing his or her food?" My choices were Always, Sometimes or Never. However, I didn't feel those answers were emphatic enough. Perhaps a YES with five exclamation points would be a better choice. Or "They can read my mind and know when I am going to feed them before I even make a move towards the kitchen" would be more accurate.

The second question is "Does your dog have different reactions to different foods (e.g. is especially eager for a piece of salami vs. the same old dry dog food)? Hello! Can you say PUGKIN BREAD!

At this point, I slammed the book closed, looked at the pugs and told them that if we stop at question number two all four of you are geniuses!

I think I can answer “Always” to those questions as well.  I guess my Toby is a genius too.
What faces. Have you ever seen anything more beautiful than pug faces?

Love Miss Luna in this pic…It’s as if she’s saying….Hmmmm, what did you say over there?  Are we geniuses?  Why yes, we are!

Of course they are geniuses, there was never any doubt.  Whoever wrote that book knows absolutely nothing about pugs and should be banned from future writings.

Yah, but we already knew that!! (Didn’t we?)  They would all look so cute with a pocket protector attached to their little harnesses!

Clearly whom ever wrote this book didn’t own Pugs….A pug that doesn’t know when their food is coming their way?? Please, that just doesn’t happen ever.!

What a great picture!!  Oh course our puggies are geniuses!

I think Sol is politely saying: “Um, Mom, being the wise older gal that I am, oh wait, I mean being a genius and all, perhaps you should have spent that money on PUGKIN BREAD, instead of that silly book!” wink

They are all so darling smile

“The mark of true genius is the effortless creation of something wholly new that, once seen, becomes self-evident.”

I believe the pugs’established their supreme intelligence when first presented with Pugkin Bread!

Tee-hee!! Too funny!
Excellent pose for the photo! Such good puggies grin

As far as the Pugs knowing when you’re going to feed them before you do, I’m a firm believer that my Pugs have telepathic abilities - case in point, I can’t enjoy a cup of Pepperidge Farm gold fish crackers without tossing all but a couple to the Pugs!!
They know that if they stare at me long enough and hard enough the grub will be theirs!! Works everytime!!

Clearly, you underestimate them.  You shouldn’t have even bought the book wink

I think “genius” and “savant” both describe pugs well…. I wonder what goes through their heads sometime.

I totally agree with the part about being a genius. My Jazzy knows when I get up to put my flip flops on that he is going for a walk. He also understands words like “hungry,” and “you wanna.” Pugs are definately one of kind breed!!!
