Latest Addition

Luna, Sol, Benjamin & Henry

Well, I relapsed this weekend and the pugs are now the proud owners of a new dog bed. This bed is memory foam like and should be easier on the joints so I thought it might be good for Sol. We shall see. So far the pugs seem to like it.

Sol did pretty well over the weekend. She is definitely back to her old self. She even went for a little walk on Sunday - at a reasonable hour even.

I anticipate getting the pathology results later this week. I have been trying to put them out of my mind as I am not a very patient person. Good news or bad news I prefer just to know.

Reflections

Sol, Benjamin & Luna

I was assembling another Ikea piece this week which had a full length mirror. The mirror was propped up, off to the side as I wasn't to that part of the assembly process yet. I glanced up and caught a glimpse of three pugs, unconcerned about the work being done.

Photo Wall Finally Updated

Photo Wall

We finally got around to updating the photo wall in the playroom this week. While I always love having new photos in the frames I procrastinated on this task for awhile. Mainly because we now have 5 furry kids and we only have four frames. Tracking down a 5th frame that is identical to the rest wasn't very easy and I really liked the spacing of the four frames and didn't want to mess with that. So, we decided to double up the boys in one picture. Not ideal, but it works because they are "the boys". Not the best way to showcase their individual personalities, but that is why I have pugs and not kids so that I don't have to worry about those things. grin

Here are the pictures that are in the frames.

Are you forgetting something?

Henry

Our beach day on Sunday was almost a disaster.  When we were just a few blocks away from the park, we realized we had forgotten to bring the pugs’ leashes.  I know.  How on earth could we forget their leashes?  It was one of those, I thought you grabbed the leashes, I didn’t get them because I thought you grabbed them moments.  At that point, it really didn’t matter how we managed to leave the house without any leashes for the pugs.  We were just a few blocks away from our destination and there were 3 pugs in the back seat that knew exactly where we were and exactly where we were going.  They were pacing the back seat in excitement and there was no way I would be able to turn back now without them going nuts.

So we quickly ran through all the ways to get four excited pugs across a parking lot and down a trail to the back corner of the beach without any leashes.  We were pressed for time because we knew that as soon as we reached the parking lot the 3 pugs in the back seat were going to erupt with barks of joy and they would not wait while we formulated a game plan.  So we hastily decided that we would carry Sol and walk the other 3 using their seatbelts.

It worked, but take a second to picture 3 very excited pugs being walked on 18 inch seatbelts.  It really gives new meaning to the term “short leash”.  The poor pugs were pulling so hard that about halfway through our journey, I just dropped the seatbelts and exclaimed, “just don’t get in any trouble!”  With their seatbelts dragging in the sand, Benjamin, Henry & Luna trotted off to the faraway section of the beach where they usually play.

Once we arrived at the beach, they ran and played and had a great time.  While they were romping in the sand, we were devising a way to get them back to the car without any leashes.  We took an inventory of the items we had with us and we decided to make use of our most abundant item - poopy bags.  We use newspaper sleeves to pick up poop on walks and since Benjamin is known to poop at least a 100 times while out on a walk we always have a ridiculous amount of poopy bags with us.  So we started tying the newspaper sleeves together and created makeshift leashes for the pugs.  We tied the poopy bags to their harnesses and walked them back to the car without incident.  For the pugs, though, I’m not sure what was worse, walking on an 18 inch seatbelt leash or walking on a leash made out of poopy bags.  I’m sure both are equally emotional damaging moments.

Watching Over

Benjamin & Luna

Benjamin & Luna sitting on my desk watching over me as I write a blog post.  They wanted to make sure I didn’t write anything incriminating about them.  Guilty conscience pugs?

Shadow

Henry, Benjamin, Sol & Luna

Above is an unedited picture that I snapped with my phone.  As, I was flipping through my pictures looking for something to blog about I came to this series of pictures and remembered that when I took the picture I thought, “Oh, cool.  They are all lined up in a row and I can blog this and make some silly joke about how I run a tight ship around here and make the pugs lounge in formation.”

As I was looking at the picture, I thought, well I can’t blog about that because Sol isn’t in the photo.  Then after taking another look, I realize that what I thought was Benny’s shadow was really Sol.  I didn’t even see her sitting there.

Here is a cleaned up version of the photo where you can see Sol a lot better.

Well, at least my oversight saved you from another one of my lame jokes - sorta. grin
