A walk at the City Center falls under the "Somewhere Fun Walk" category in our data tracking experiment. I love going to the City Center and the pugs really enjoy it as well. There is a nice path that meanders around a lake that is a half mile long. When we go, we usually try to get a mile in with the pugs, which would be just two simple laps around the lake, but Henry refuses to walk around the lake twice. He will actually sit down and refuse to take another step. Not because he is too tired and can't walk, but because he has a rule that he will not walk at the same place twice on one walk. Been there smelled that, is his motto. So to extend the walk we have take a couple side routes. And Henry loves the side routes, because there is nothing he loves more than getting off the beaten path and exploring.

This is a shot of the boys after their bath a few weeks ago, but lately Benjamin & Henry have been romping around the house more and more. When they were pups it was all play all the time, then Luna came along and they each had someone more interesting to play with. Then they decided that sitting on the couch is more fun than chasing each other.
But, lately, they are back to wrestling around for a bit in the evenings, usually right before we go on our walk. The roughhousing doesn't last nearly as long as it did when they were pups, but it still makes me smile to see them play even a little bit. While they are many years older, their style of play hasn't changed much at all. Benny still likes to nip at Henry's ankles and Henry loves to grab hold of that big ole wrinkle on the side of Benny's face and pull him around the house. Boys!
On a side note, I received an email from Grannygoogs early this morning. Looks like she is back online. I will make sure that she receives today's Daily Pug Picture and hopefully we will see her around soon.

Meet Jade. Jade came over on Sunday to play with the pugs and to watch a bit of the Puppy Bowl. She was also kind enough to bring her humans Jennifer and Corey. And it was a good thing she did because Jennifer brought pumpkin bread. Yummy, yummy pumpkin bread.
The pugs played a bit, but like any good Puppy Bowl party there was lots of snacking, which I think was the pugs' favorite part. Turns out that Jade loves pumpkin bread too!
Jade has a super sweet, outgoing personality and reminds me of Sol in a lot of ways. I like to think that Sol, in her younger days, was a lot like Jade.
Thanks for hanging out with us on Sunday, Jennifer, Corey and Jade.

A few weeks ago, Central Florida Pug Rescue sent me an update on the hospice pugs that are the beneficiaries to the Sol Sunshine Memorial Fund.
For example, the fund is being used for Jenny's monthly shots and for medicines, special foods and regular checkups for the other pugs in hospice. While reading the email, it was such a good feeling to know that Solsey is still doing good in this world. She can't be here to make me smile with her goofy antics, but it makes me smile to know that Solsey plays an itty bitty, tiny, little part in helping other senior pugs live it up in retirement.
Monetary donations to the fund go a long way, but donation of other items are also a big help. Here are a few of the items the senior pugs could use:
- Pastel colored yoga mats (we cut them up to make easy-clean pads for the seniors)
- Egg-crate foam sheets (we use the foam to make orthopedic beds)
- Raised dog bowls, for the pugs with severe arthritis and joint problems
- Frontline and Heartguard medications, as the older ones have trouble tolerating ivermectin and some of the other newer meds for heart worm and fleas
If you have any of these items and would like to make a donation, you can send them to:
CFPR
P.O. Box 953744
Lake Mary, FL 32795-3744
Or if you are in the Central Florida area call the pug line at 407-756-4998 to arrange for pickup or delivery.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for all your support. Without you, the Sol Sunshine Memorial Fund would not be possible.

Benjamin experienced a first a few weeks ago. He found a cat that actually likes him.
It is no secret that Benjamin is the lowest pug on Cupid's totem pole. And every other cat he has come across has promptly greeted him with a bap on the head.
So when Simba, a cat that lives in our neighborhood that is allowed to go outside, and Benny crossed paths, Benny was bracing himself for the worst, but was presently surprised when Simba rubbed up against him and promptly flopped on his back. (Yup, that is Benny in the pink collar below. He was borrowing it from his sister that day).

And ever since their first meeting, Simba generally comes over to see the pugs when they go out for their evening walk. We will be walking along and he will come darting over to say hi to the pugs. After a minute or two of prancing around the pugs he is off for other adventures.

If you haven't realized that I am a huge dork, you soon will. A few posts ago, we got to talking about how often we bathe our pugs in the comments. This got me thinking about Daytum, a website I came across about a year ago for tracking personal data.
So, I decided to share the account that I created for the pugs that I have been using since the first of the year, to track things like our walks, the fun places we visit and other pug related items. I am going to put a link in the sidebar, so if you are ever interested in how many walks the pugs have been on in 2011, or how many baths they have had this year you can find out.
