Repeat

Luna

On Thursday night, we were watching TV and Luna was on my lap. I was petting her when I noticed a bump on her ear. I moved her fur and found a bump that looked eerily similar to the bump that Benjamin had on his chest a while back. Knowing that Benjamin's bump was bad news, I call the vet first thing Friday morning and made an appointment for Friday afternoon.

The vet was optimistic at first because the lump seemed very superficial, but he still did an aspiration and took a look at the fluid he extracted under the microscope. After he took a look at the cells, he confirmed our suspicions that the bump was a mast cell tumor.

So, Luna goes in for surgery on Tuesday to have the lump removed. After the tumor is removed it will be sent to be biopsied and we will get the grade of the tumor. If we are really lucky it will come back a grade 1. But grade 2 would be OK too, as long as there are clean margins.

The only good thing about this situation is that we have a pretty good understanding of the process having been through the same thing with Benjamin.

Luna has a few other bumps on her that we don't think are trouble, but we are going to have the vet take a look at all of them since she is going to be under. With her skin issues, Luna does tend to get a lot of little bumps that come and go. Our vet's advice was to mark her up with lipstick so that he could find them all easily. They will do their own search as well, but that way he will be able to easily spot all the bumps that we know about. So, we will be taking Luna the leopard in for her surgery on Tuesday. Luna is taking it all in stride, but I just can't wait until we have her back home on Tuesday night.

TGIF

Luna

Is it just me or has this been a long week? I guess having time off for the holidays has made this week drag by, but I am so very glad the weekend is just around the corner.

No big plans for the weekend, but I know the pugs are looking forward to watching a few NFL playoff games. The pugs love watching football because it means at least 3 good hours of snuggling on the couch.

I hope you and your pugs have a wonderful weekend!

What did you bring me?

Benjamin

I made a quick trip up to see G-Ma over the holidays and as soon as I got home Benjamin wanted to know what G-Ma had put in my suitcase. And G-Ma did not disappoint. In the front pouch, right where Benny is sniffing, G-Ma stuck a few ginger snap cookies that Benjamin went crazy over last Christmas.

Last year, G-Ma got a tin of gingersnaps and both Benny and G-Ma loved them. So, Santa thought it would be a good idea to bring more this year. I think it is safe to say both Benny and G-Ma were quite pleased with Santa.

Chin Rest

Benjamin and Luna

It must be hard work holding all those wrinkles up, because Benjamin is forever resting his chin on something.

Last Sunday, when we were reading the Sunday paper, Luna was all curled up on the chair when Benny suddenly hopped up on her chair and wedged himself between her and the chair. He then promptly used her as a chin rest. Neither Luna nor Henry seem to mind when Benny butts in. They are a good bro and sis that way. And I never mind because all of Benjamin's butting in makes for good photos. grin

Post Holiday Walkies

Benjamin, Henry and Luna

Like many people, including myself, the pugs overindulged this holiday. They had many more treats and bones than they normally would have had in the last two weeks. And as expected they loved it.

But, after a short cold snap, a front of perfect pug weather has moved in to the area. We have been able to get out for lots of walks and have been able to go on extra long walks without the pugs getting too hot.

The weather and walks have been just what the pugs needed to burn off all their holidays snacks. I wish burning off all my holiday snacks was just as easy.

New Year’s Resolutions

Henry

Shortly after eating all their Christmas treats Benjamin, Henry & Luna racked their brains and came up with a few things they are willing to work on for a few weeks in January and then forget all about.

The boys have come up with a joint resolution. They have decided to learn more about how screens work. Currently, they are unaware that liquids can pass through screens, so whenever they lift their leg to pee on the screen they are always surprised to find pee pee on the other side. So, the boys are resolved to learning all about how liquids can pass through screens, how to recognize a screen and how to not pee on screens.

Luna

Luna's resolution came to her when we were walking at one of our favorite parks earlier this week. We were strolling along and Luna stopped to smell something in the grass and before we knew it she was rolling around like a wild woman in the grass. When she flipped herself over, she was covered in a yellow-greenish goop. If I wasn't too busy gagging over the smell, I would have taken a picture to share with everyone.

So we hurried home and Luna went straight to the tub for a bath. She wreaked and getting her wet only made her smell worse. Lucky for us, whatever Luna was covered in came off with her regular dog shampoo and with a double wash she was as good as new. But, since the experience required a bath, Luna has resolved not to roll around in crazy smells she finds on the grass.

We'll see how long the pugs are able to keep their resolutions. I hope you have better luck with your resolutions.
