State lawmakers in Delaware are currently reviewing a bill that proposes the pug as the state’s official dog. The bill touts the pug as “a small, intelligent, and much revered dog.” Representative Robert Valihura Junior, who introduced the bill, says the pug is an appropriate breed to represent the nation’s second-smallest state.

Recently, Chihuahuas have been the “it” dog in Hollywood, but that is all about to change. Thanks in part to Mimi la Rue’s role on So noTORIous, pugs are taking Hollywood by storm. Pugs have recently been spotted in advertisements for Barneys New York and Neiman Marcus. Plus there is a whole host of celebrities that are experiencing first hand the joys of being owned by a pug.

May 7th - 13th marks the 92nd annual Be Kind to Animals Week. Since 1915, American Humane has been sponsoring Be Kind to Animals Week to “celebrate the unique bond between humans and animals.”
