#10

Benjamin

One night last week, I stopped to pickup a carryout order from Bob Evans. As I was waiting, I noticed their pumpkin bread was back for Fall and I got to talking to a manager about the canned pumpkin shortage. The manager explained that they had to switch to a Canadian supplier because of Libby's pumpkin crop failure last year. We talked a bit longer and before I left, I asked her if she could sell me any of her cans of pumpkin. She explained that they were #10 cans, but if that wasn't a problem for me she would be more than happy to sell them to me. The cans were huge, but I could certainly find a way to work around that. So, I left there with 3 huge cans of pumpkin. I was giddy for the rest of the night.

Before I cracked open any of the cans, I of course made the pugs pose with them. Ever since learning how to "give 5", Benjamin thinks that "giving 5" is his ticket to everything he wants in life. You don't even have to ask him. He just sits down and starts giving you his paw.

Henry and Luna seemed to be equally excited about the mystery, oversized can.

Laborless Weekend

Henry, Luna and Benjamin

We had a very relaxing Labor Day weekend. It was still too hot for the pugs to do too much during the day, but I was very happy that things cooled off enough to take the pugs on nice walks in the evenings. On Saturday, we went to one of our favorite parks for a walk around the lake. We haven't been able to go for a walk at the park since early June so the pugs were super excited to get back to one of their favorite walking spots.

On Sunday and Monday night we were back out and about on our normal neighborhood walks and the pugs got to see some of their friends that they haven't seen in months.

I hope everyone in the path of Earl fared OK over the weekend.

One Year Ago

Sol

One year ago today, I snapped this picture of Solsey. I can't even put into words how much I miss her. But, I am so very grateful that the 15 months she shared with us are packed full of such wonderful memories. Not a day passes that we don't share a Solsey story.

Shady

Henry and Luna

We recently installed blinds on the front door for a little privacy and to help cut down on the amount of sunlight that pours into the living room in the evenings. We thought reducing the amount of sunlight that enters the house during the summer would help lessen the load on our friend the AC.

But we couldn't just put up blinds on the window because I could just imagine how quickly the pugs would tear them right off the door. So, we got shades that are enclosed in glass and hook right onto the door, which means the pugs can scratch at the door and won't be messing with the blinds.

One major drawback, is that having the shades closed limits the pugs view. Which is perfectly fine with me because a limited view means limited barking, but I'm not so sure how well it is going to go over with the pugs. So far they seem to be fine.

But, since the amount of sunlight pouring into the house is greatly reduced they do have to chase the sun a bit more. Before a huge rectangle of sun poured through the door. Now they just get little patches that jump around depending on the angle of the sun. But, don't worry, little Luna seems to have gotten the hang of things already.

Ultimate Pillow Pile

Henry

The living room is now overrun with pillows. During the day, the couch is piled high with pillows that the pugs use in the afternoon when they nap and gaze out the front door. But, after dinner, two humans actually like to sit on the couch and unwinding on top of three pillows stacked on the couch isn't all that comfortable. Trust me, I've tried it.

So, before we settled down last night, I took some of the pillows that were on the sofa and just tossed them on the clamshell chair. Within a few minutes, Henry was leaping up to make himself comfortable on the enormous pile.

Henry

At first, I almost took one of the pillows down because the stack of 4 put Henry over the edge of the chair on the one side. It was late, I was tired and Henry is clumsy. I was certainly not up for a trip to the emergency vet and having to explain that Henry injured himself falling off a big pile of pillows. But, Henry seemed to have the situation under control, so I let him reign supreme on the ultimate pillow pile.
