Fashion Forward

Benjamin & Henry

Luna has been gracious enough to allow the boys to keep a small sliver of the closet for themselves.  Their section of the closet is full of t-shirts.  One of those shirts is their very own Owned by Pugs dog t-shirt.

Benny

Luna actually has an Owned by Pugs shirt too, but I took these photos on the same day as the Mommy’s Girl shots and Luna had already met the number of hours of work allowed by doggie labor laws. grin

Flashback

This week’s flashback: The Infamous Dog Bed

You may have noticed that we have a thing for dog beds around here.  There is pretty much a dog bed in every room.  This week, I moved this dog bed to a different location and it reminded me of this post.

Leash Management

Luna

Whenever I am out alone with all 3 pugs, I always use their 6 foot leashes.  With three energetic pugs, there is no way I can manage 3 retractable leashes.  The only issue with the 6 foot leashes is that Luna has horrible leash management skills.  I thought Henry was forever getting tangled, but my opinion quickly changed when we adopted Luna.

Once the pugs settle into the walk, the leashes normally drag a little bit on the ground and this is where Luna gets herself all tied up.  The boys step over the leash or let it pass all the way under them, but Luna she always ends up getting her paws tied up with the leash.  We are forever stopping so that I can untangle her which really annoys Ben and makes him pull on the leash, which is his way of saying, “keep up slowpokes!”

To solve the issue, I have tried taking the slack out of Luna’s leash and not letting it drag on the ground.  But then she will get tangled up in one of the boy’s leashes.  So in order to make it a block without having to free Luna, I have to keep the slack out of all three of the leashes.  Which pretty much means, I am doing all the work of the retractable leash.

Oh, you should just see us out and about.  It’s good for a laugh.

Ben Ben

Benjamin

In the morning, Ben is such a sleepy head.  Henry and Luna are not morning pugs either, but unlike his brother and sister, Benny always gets up to go to work with me.  All the pugs get up for breakfast, but Henry and Luna quickly retreat back to bed after their last bite of banana.  Benny, on the other hand, always accompanies me to my office.  Granted, he finds a comfy spot and falls back asleep, but I think it is sweet that he at least pretends to go to work with me.  Henry and Luna always come to work with me too, they’re just usually a few hours late.  Good thing I’m not a tough boss.

Outtakes

Luna

I have been enjoying taking the pictures for the Fashion Forward posts on Sunday.  It is fun to pull out all of the old outfits from the pugs’ closet.  But I wanted to share a little behind the scenes dirt on what it it like to work with little Luna.  Sure, she looks like a perfect angel in the first two Sunday posts so far, but let me tell you that girl is the wiggliest of all the wiggle worms.  It seems like a part of her is always in motion.  Her tail, her tongue, it could be anything.  The hardest part, though, is that she hasn’t mastered the stay command yet.  She will sit like a pretty angel, but as soon as I kneel down to take a picture of her she is in my lap.  It is quite amusing.

So, the fashion forward posts have been a great opportunity for us to work with Luna on the stay command.  So far, Luna 2, mommy 0.

Unraveled

Henry and the rawhide

I spent most of the weekend working on the calendar, so the pugs had lots of chewing time this weekend.  They had nice new knucklebones to keep them busy while I worked, but their chewing reminded me of something I wanted to blog about awhile back.

Henry has a thing with compressed rawhide bones.  Instead of just chewing them, he likes to peel the rawhide off in layers.  Unfortunately, he is quite good at it too!  As he peels away the layers, I take them away because they are what we call “choking hazards”.

Benjamin hates it when Henry unravels a rawhide bone.  Benjamin’s preferred plan of attack is to get the bone so slobbery on an end that it pretty much turns to mush.

Depending on the size of the rawhide strip that Henry pulls off, we sometimes let Luna chew on it.  Luna has such a tiny mouth that she couldn’t even come close to getting the larger pieces into her mouth.  She will happily chew for hours on a piece of rawhide that we had to take away from Henry.

On a completely different note, how is everyone that was in Ike’s path doing?  I hope everyone is OK.
