A girl could get used to this

By now you are probably thinking, “How many pictures of the pugs snuggled in the pillows could she possible post?”  Plenty.  I post a lot as it is and although it may not seem like it I do try to show some restraint.

But I had to post this one because it seems Luna has finally learned to love the pillows as much as her brothers.

The boys are always snuggled into the pillows and when they settle they usually sleep there for quite a while.  Luna, on the other hand, never really slept on the pillows much.  She always found other spots to make herself comfortable.  Until recently that is.  It seems that she has really taken a liking to the pillows and you can pretty much find her there anytime the boys are there.

It is fun to watch how she is slowly becoming just like the boys.

Overzealous

It is usually Luna that ends up wearing most of her dinner, but the other night Henry saved a little yogurt for desert.  Unlike Luna, who is completely oblivious to the fact that she ends up wearing most of her dinner, Henry was aware that the yogurt was on his nose and he kept trying to lick it off.  The only problem was that his tongue wasn’t quite long enough.  I wiped it off for him, but not before I had a few minutes of fun with him.

Anticipation

The pugs are waiting for me to get off work so they can go for a walk.  While they wait, they like to bask in the sun and they always keep an eye out the door for other doggies out enjoying their evening walks.

It’s Funny Now - Benny & the Greyhound

When the boys were about 6 months old we thought it would be a good idea to start taking them to the dog park to help socialize them.  The closest dog park to us at the time was very nice, but it did not have a separate area for small and large dogs.  This made me a tad nervous, but I thought it would be good for the boys to learn to play with big dogs as well.

After a couple trips at times which we thought would be off peak, we soon learned that the park was always fairly busy.  We soon settled into the routine of going in the evenings a couple times a week.  The boys quickly became known at the park and they did a great job playing with both big and small dogs.

We got to the park one evening as usual and the park was particularly crowded.  The boys went into the fenced area and immediately started playing.  The dogs were running and the boys were doing their best to keep up, when out of the blue, a greyhound sprints up to baby Benny and picks him up by the scruff of his neck and trots off of him.

I saw the whole thing and I frantically started to look for the greyhound’s owner.  Luckily, the owner was on top of things and was already on her way to tell her dog to put down baby Benny, which the greyhound begrudgingly did.  The owner pulled a muzzle out of her pocket and quickly put it on her dog.  At that point she proceeded to tell me that her dog most likely thought that Benny was a rabbit and she angrily stomped off because she didn’t want to have to muzzle her dog.

I was fine up until the point she got mad at us for her having to muzzle her dog.  It wasn’t like we were in the large dog section of the park, the park was for all dogs of all sizes.  And Benny never even went up to her dog, so it wasn’t like he was enticing the greyhound.  The greyhound sought him out.

I’m just so glad that the greyhound didn’t start to shake Benny when he picked him up.  Lucky for us, he just picked him up and started to walk away with him.

When this first happened, I was more than a little irked.  But, now when I look back on it I can’t stop laughing.  I can picture it plain as day, little baby Benny hanging by the scruff of his neck getting toted around by a greyhound.  That will teach him to be so cute!

Romeo

Romeo is a 14 month pug pup who currently is in desperate need of Liver Shunt surgery. The surgery Romeo needs costs $5,000.  Without the surgery the toxins from his liver will start to affect his nueroligical system and will eventually be fatal.

Brenda from Delaware Valley Pug Rescue e-mailed me in hopes that we can get the word out about Romeo and help raise funds to get him the life saving surgery he so desperately needs.

I’m going to be sending over a donation from Owned by Pugs and H. Doodle and if any other readers could send in a donation I know the Delaware Valley Pug rescue, along with little Romeo, would certainly appreciate it.  Whether big or small a donation of any size goes a long way in getting sweet little Romeo back on his feet so that he can live the true life of a pug pup.

UPDATE: Last night Romeo’s health took a turn for the worse and he was rushed to the emergency vet.  He will be undergoing surgery today.  I will let you know as soon as I have an update.

UPDATE: In case you did not catch Brenda’s comment here is the latest on little Romeo:
Thank you so much for your well wishes and generosity. The other members of the rescue and especially Romeo’s foster parents were very touched by your support. Unfortunately, the surgery is on hold until we can get Romeo’s blood cell count up to a healthy level. Hopefully he’ll get his count up high enough in the next couple of days to get his surgery. Thank you for your well wishes and keep Romeo in your prayers the next couple of days
