The Battle of the Bulge is not just for humans. It seems pets across the country face a lot of the same weight related issues as their owners. To help raise awareness of pet obesity and the dangers your pet faces by being overweight, Hill’s has designed the PetFit Challenge. The Challenge was designed to help owners take positive steps in helping their pets shed those extra pounds.
And who better than to set an example for pets across America than Jillian Michaels and her Chihuahua, Baxter. Jillian Michaels is best know as a trainer on NBC’s show The Biggest Loser. While Jillian may be in excellent shape her faithful friend Baxter could afford to shed 3 pounds.

Summer can be a fun time for dogs and their owners, but the Summer heat can be very dangerous to pugs. Here are some products that let you and your pug have fun during the warm weather while keeping cool:
- The Dip ‘n’ Sip. The Dip ‘n’ Sip features a small pool for dogs to splash around in along with a small water bowl hooked onto the unit.
- ThermalWear Canine Cooling System. The vest maintains a temperature of 50 degrees for over two hour helping to keep your pet cool.
- Petbrella. The Petbrella is an umbrella that is low to the ground that can be used to provide shade for your pug. The umbrella also comes with a tie-out stake.
- The Skamper Ramp. The Skamper Ramp is a ramp that hooks on to the edge of the pool and provides and easy way out of the pool if your pug accidentally falls into the water.

If you are anything like me, you probably get bombarded with all kinds of credit card offers each day. Most of the time, I feed all of the offers right into my shredder, but this one caught my eye. The PetRewards Visa card not only lets you put your pet’s photo on the card, but it also has a rewards program geared towards animal lovers. The card lets you turn your reward points into discount certificates for pet food, veterinary services or donations to animal shelters.
For complete details check out the PetRewards Visa card website.

A new bill that requires state leaders to include pet owners in emergency evacuation plans went before the House on Monday. State and local preparedness offices that fail to include plans for the evacuation of pets and service animals would not qualify for FEMA grants. If the bill passes, evacuation plans that include pets would be a huge incentive for residents in danger to evacuate. A recent Zogby International poll found that “49 percent of adults say they would refuse to evacuate if they couldn’t take their pets with them.”

There is nothing I like more than a cool pug design. A while back we set out to create a unique pug character made out of the letters “p-u-g-s” so there would be no confusion as to our favorite breed. I am extremely happy to announce that the Pugs Pug design is available on a variety of different items such as t-shirts, stickers and bibs in six different colors. Check out all the items in the OwnedByPugs store.

Pick your favorite and spell it out the world - you’re a pug lover!
