Rental Cars

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

The pugs have an odd fascination with rental cars.  I’m not really sure how all this came about, as it’s not like we have a rental very often, but for some odd reason, the pugs insist on going for a ride in any rental that we have.  Now that I think about it, the pugs insist on going for a ride in any car that is at our house.  When my parents came to visit they insisted on going for a ride in my Dad’s big truck.  It is Henry that always leads the charge, but Luna and Benjamin would never miss a trip.

Henry
Don’t worry we didn’t let him ride in the back.  But while in the driveway he loved to sit back there.  He thought he was King.

So yesterday, when the rental car returned to our driveway after what the pugs thought was a miraculous 4 day disappearance that left just one human to pet them, the pugs expected to go for a car ride.  Apparently, we weren’t going fast enough because the next thing I know Henry jumps into the trunk.  I would not have expected anything like that from Henry, he isn’t a jumper at all.  As soon as Benjamin sees Henry in the trunk, he hops right in and sits on the suitcase because he knows he has a present in there (A new knucklebone in this case.  G-Ma has taught him his friend the suitcase always comes back to the house with a treat in it.)  With the boys in the trunk, all happy with themselves, Luna wants in too.  So we help Luna get into the trunk and the three of them are like pigs in mud.

So we unpack the suitcases and pugs from the trunk and then we go on the obligatory different car at my house ride on which we let the pugs ride in the backseat and from Henry’s point of view all is then right with the world.

Have a great weekend everyone!

3 Tired Pugs

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

We made the trek to Ikea this weekend in search for a new entertainment center.  We found something we liked so needless to say we had a lot of assembly to do.  We worked into the wee hours of the morning and all our hard work really tired out the pugs.  We did keep them up way past their bedtime, but at least we were considerate enough to make a comfy spot for them to nap.

Pug Camouflage

Can you spot Luna?

Luna

Her scars actually help her blend in pretty well.

Luna

The boys don’t blend in quite as well as the little girl.  But Luna isn’t surprised.  Just another thing that she is the best at! grin

Hot

Henry, Luna & Benjamin

This weekend was HOT!  As soon as we would walk outside I would break a sweat and the pugs would start to pant.  We swam in the pool a bit on Sunday, but going in and out of the pool wasn’t even enough to keep the pugs cool.  So, the pugs happily spent most of their weekend indoors lounging about and chewing on some bones.  It was most definitely a lazy summer weekend.

How about you?  How was your weekend?

Best Seats in the House

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

Being the good Americans that we are, we have setup the furniture in the living room so every seat has a good view of the TV.  The pugs, however, have a different set of requirements for room arrangement.  They would prefer if every seat had a good view out the front door.

Benjamin, Henry & Luna

The coveted spot is the arm of the sofa closest to the front door.  From there you have a clear view out the front door and the coziness of the throw pillows.

Benjamin

The next best spot is the back of the sofa.  This spot is only used by Benny and he loves that!  Henry is no where near agile enough to perch himself on the back of the sofa considering the sofa does not back to a wall.

Coming in third is the far clamshell chair in the living room.  It is the farthest option, but it does offer a clear view.

Since Luna doesn’t see too well, she rarely uses any of these options.  She prefers a center stage, front row seat on the rug by the door.  It always makes me sad because she loves to look out the door and I know she doesn’t see so well.  I wish the boys wouldn’t bark at everyone that walked down the street, but I love it when Luna spots someone out the door and barks.  It lets me know that she can see and that makes me feel good.

Weird Dream

Henry

This weekend was pretty uneventful.  We spent a lot of time working in the yard and the pugs joined us outside for a bit during the evenings when it wasn’t too hot for them.  Which meant I spent most of that time fussing at Benjamin not to eat the mulch.  He is constantly walking off with a piece of mulch to chew on.  It is one of those puppy habits that he never outgrew.

On Saturday night I had the craziest dream.  I still can’t really make heads or tails of it.  We were at my parents’ house in Maryland and the pugs and Cupid kept escaping out of the yard.  I was able to get them back, but there was some issue with the recycling pickup so each of the pugs had to go to school with a kid that I knew in grade school.  At the end of the day, I picked up Benjamin & Luna but Henry was missing.  Word around school was that his student just left him outside.  As I was frantically looking for him, somehow I ended up at a grocery store and as I was checking all the aisles to find Henry the store lost electricity.  Things became utterly chaotic and people were loading up their carts and leaving with everything they could grab without paying for anything.  I still hadn’t found Henry yet and the next thing I remember is sitting in my car at a toll booth waiting forever for my turn to pay the toll.  But when I got to the tollbooth, the lady wouldn’t let me through until I could tell her the names of 3 types of cheeses that I was supposed to have remembered from the grocery store.  I tried telling her that I wasn’t paying attention at the grocery store, that I was just looking for my dog.  She insisted that I must tell her the name of the cheeses and so I started rattling off every type of cheese I could think of.  I could only get two of the three cheeses on her list and so I was stuck at this toll booth forever!  That is when I started to stir and it wasn’t long until I realized that Henry was sound asleep between my legs.

This was by far the oddest dream I have ever had in my life.  Most of my dreams aren’t quite as all over the place as this one.

Hardly Working

Benjamin, Henry & Luna at the office

Since today is Take Your Dog to Work day the pugs wanted to pose for a picture in the office to show that they work hard for the kibble.

Is anyone taking their dog to work with them today?

Have a great weekend everyone!
