I try to keep the blog as pug related as possible and while it may seem that the only life I have has to do with Benjamin, Henry, Luna & Sol, I am very lucky to have a wonderful family. My nephew, Robbie, recently got engaged and we couldn't be happier for him and his fiancee, Rachel.
So why am I blabbing all this? Well, I have a very huge favor to ask. If you have a spare second would you be so kind to vote for my nephew in the Ultimate Wedding Contest? One winner from the 50 highest vote getters will be chosen by the judges and will have a dream wedding planned for them.
With your support Batman & Robin were able to rally & win the halloween contest for Compassionate Pug Rescue and it would mean the world to me if you could stop by and vote for Robbie & Rachel in the Ultimate Wedding Contest. Voting runs for 7 more weeks and you can vote once per day. If you could pop over and place a vote every now and again I would be extremely grateful.UPDATE: You can only vote once per entry. So if you could pop over and vote once I would be extremley grateful.
Thank you so very much pug lovers! I hope everyone has a great weekend. And to all those in the North East expecting snow I hope you are stocked up on milk & toilet paper.

As you read this, G-Ma & G-Pa are making the drive from Maryland to Florida. The pugs love it when G-Ma & G-Pa come to visit because their level of spoiledness jumps to a whole new level. G-Ma is always quick to dole out the treats and G-Pa has a nice big truck that the pugs love to ride in.
With all the action of next week, posting is going to be pretty light and fluffy around here. I'm going to mainly be posting pictures of the pugs and will most likely be pretty light on stories. Things will get back to normal the week after Christmas.
From all of us here in the OBP household, I hope everyone out there has a very happy and safe holiday season!

I am very happy to announce that the 2010 Owned by Pugs Calendars are now up for sale. The pugs were very happy to greet the UPS man when he delivered the many boxes this afternoon.
Each year, one of the last things I do before I send the calendars off to the printer is I take a picture of each one of the pugs for the back cover. Now, I don't know why, since I adore taking pictures of the pugs, but getting a photo of each one of the pugs for the back page of the calendar becomes an insurmountable task each year. I'm guessing its because I have already put together all of the months and the thought of even opening up photoshop to resize another picture makes me want to take a nap. The smart me would take pictures of the pugs before I even start designing the calendar, you know, when everyone is still submitting pictures, but I just can bring myself to do it. I'll end up using the picture in a blog or I will say to myself, "I can get a better picture than that."
So each year, I drag the pugs out in the yard and shoot a ton of photos just hoping to get something good. The pugs can usually sense my frustration and they almost always never cooperate. It is almost like school picture day and you know how school photos always turn out. But this year, this year was different. We got the pictures for the back page of the calendar in about 5 minutes tops. It went so smoothly that I almost considered getting a few shots for the 2011 calendar while I was out there
Here are the pictures that we used for the calendars. I like Luna's shot the best.

I was very happy this morning when I saw that the 2010 calendars have shipped from the printer and are on their way to my door. I didn't want to keep everyone in suspense any longer so I decided to post images of the calendar pages and to make them available for preorder.
Notification emails will go out early next week when the calendars arrive, so don't worry, if you haven't heard anything from me it doesn't mean that one of your pictures isn't included in the calendar.
Shipping will be free for US addresses for the month of October and if you are still interested in the 2009 Calendars we have a few of those left that are now priced at $5.

Sol continues to do well. She slept most of Thursday, which was to be expected. Her appetite is back in full swing which is always a good sign. The biggest problem we are having is that the little bugger can a find a pill in pretty much anything.
For the curious, here is a picture of Sol's incision on her belly that I took the night of her surgery day. If you are squeamish or you happen to be eating breakfast feel free to skip right over that link.
The 2010 calendar submissions came to a quiet close earlier in the month. We received over 1,250 amazing pug photos! I was happily surprised. A huge thank you to all that submitted pictures.
I have been hard at work on the calendar whenever I have a moment of downtime. I am hoping to send it off to the printer by the middle of next week, which would keep things on track for an early October release date.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! You all deserve it! I'm sure everyone is tired after sending all those well wishes to Solsey Baby.

OBP reader Bethany was so very kind to send us a little gift a few weeks back. The awesome gift was Pug Pear Wine. Not only is it a great gift for a pug lover, but a portion of the proceeds of each sale benefits an animal rescue group in Oregon where the wine maker is based.
Thanks, Bethany!

Can you believe it? It is time to open up the 2010 Calendar Contest to submissions. My how time flies!
The format of the contest is the same as previous years. You submit your adorable pug pictures during the month of August, I sort through and create the calendar during the month of September and the calendars go on sale in early October.
So I challenge you to inundate me with adorable pug pictures!
You can find all the contest details here and you can submit your picture to the calendar contest here.
As always, a portion of the proceeds from each calendar sale will benefit pug rescue. This year we have teamed up with the good folks at Central Florida Pug Rescue.
