Do you remember a while back when I tweeted about Benny trying to mark something out of his reach and peeing on his paw? Well, those pretty flowers in the hanging basket, just above Benny’s head in this photo, are what Benny was trying to mark when he had his little incident. Despite dirtying up his paw, Benny did not give up in trying to claim them for his own. The other morning, around 3am, Benny needed to go out to go potty. We both made our way outside and Benny attempted to mark the flowers again. In his tired stupor, Benny lifted his leg but lost his footing on the rocks which caused him to knock into the hanging pot. The pot, in turn, swung back and nearly knocked Benny off his feet. Flower pot 2, Benny 0.
I have had a lot of e-mails wondering if I could give an update on how the raffle is going. Since we have until July 31st until I draw a winner, I thought I would try my best to post an update on the total every Friday evening.
Going into the raffle, I really wasn’t sure how much we would raise. I couldn’t really decide on a goal. That being said, I am very pleased with the results so far. In just 3 days, you wonderful pug lovers have raised $433 for Compassionate Pug Rescue! Simple proof that big things can happen when we all join together!
I don’t think I can truly express how grateful and proud I am to be a part of Owned by Pugs. Owned by Pugs started as just a little website about my boys back in 2003 and it has grown into more than I could have ever imagined. Reading the comments that you leave and the e-mails that you send make my day. I can’t thank you enough for taking part in the raffle.
With a few weeks left in the raffle, I hope we can continue to add to our total. What do you think our goal should be?
The OBP Raffle benefiting CPR is still open! Great prizes are up for grabs! Click here to find out all the details about the raffle. If you have entered don’t forget to forward your receipt to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
Last night after dinner we spent some time in the yard enjoying a nice summer evening and unwinding from long days at work. Here are some random pics of the pugs unwinding from their long day napping

Apparently, Henry doesn’t really have much interest in how my day went.

Benny & Luna looking for something to get into.
And I couldn’t forget Cupid. Here she is climbing around in the Mimosa tree.
If it wasn’t for the continuous shooting mode on my camera getting group shots of the pugs would be a lot harder. When we take pictures of Benjamin, Henry & Luna posed in front of things, like the new flower pots, as soon as they are sorta in place I just start shooting and I fire off as many shots as possible before someone moves too far out of place. This means I end up with tons of photos. I think I had around 85 pictures for the flower pot shoot. Most of these pictures aren’t the greatest because one of the pugs is looking away or one of them has their eyes closed or someone, Luna, has simply walked away. But it always amuses me when I flip through iPhoto quickly. It is like a little flip book of the pugs posing.
I wanted to share, so I created a little video. Enjoy.
p.s. - Sorry for no photo to go along with yesterday’s raffle post. I will do my best to make it up to you
Ever since we have adopted Luna from Compassionate Pug Rescue, I have kept up to date with the happenings at CPR. Just like in years past, CPR has nursed a lot of pugs back to health. However, getting the pugs all their needed medical attention does not come cheap. Medical costs continue to mount and as I make updates to the CPR website I often think, "Geez, I really need to win the lottery so I can really help out!"
Over the last few weeks I have been thinking a lot about rescue and had a couple of realizations. Sure, one person can make a large donation, but that is not the only way things can get done. A few dollars here and there can really add up. Great things really happen when people unite to work towards the same goal.
So I came up with an idea that I thought would be fun. A good, old fashion raffle with all the proceeds benefiting pug rescue. If each reader of the Pug Blog purchased a raffle ticket ($5 / ticket, $13 for 3 tickets) we could raise a nice amount for rescue. Plus, there are some great prizes up for grabs.
I am always very hesitant to make donation pleas on the blog. I don't want readers to feel as though I am simply writing to ask for their money. The economy is tough right now and I know we are all feeling the effects, especially the pugs in rescue. I thought I would do one raffle and get your thoughts on the raffle idea. Would you be interested in participating in future raffles to benefit other pug rescue organizations? If yes, how often should we hold the raffles? What prizes would you like to win? Please share your thoughts.
Without further ado, here are the details for the very first OBP Pug Rescue Raffle. All raffle ticket purchases will benefit Compassionate Pug Rescue. Information on the prizes up for grabs as well as how to purchase tickets is below. If you can, please help spread the word.

Make a donation via PayPal to Compassionate Pug Rescue for the number of raffle tickets you would like to purchase (ie $5 for 1 ticket, $10 for 2 tickets, $13 for 3 tickets, etc). A PayPal account is not required to donate. See below for instructions on how to enter without having a PayPal account. It would also be helpful to CPR if you entered a small note that said "OBP Raffle" in the special instructions to seller on the donation page (under the "Donation to Compassionate Pug Rescue after you have updated your totals). It isn't required to participate, but would be helpful for them.
Forward your donation receipt to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). We will send you a confirmation e-mail letting you know we received your submission and will include your raffle ticket number in the e-mail. If you do not receive your confirmation e-mail from us within 48 hours please let us know.
Drawing the winner
One grand prize winner and one runner up will be drawn on July 31, 2008 during the evening hours.
The winners will be notified via e-mail and will be identified by first name only on the Pug Blog. When we contact you will we get your mailing address as well as any size and color choices for prizes.
How the winner will be drawn
Each e-mail entry we receive will be assigned a raffle number. We will input all raffle ticket numbers into Random.org's List Randomizer. The List Randomizer will randomly order the raffle ticket numbers entered. The first number on the list will be the Grand Prize winner and the second number on the list will be the Runner Up. We will then find the e-mail address that matches the raffle ticket number and contact the winners. For your privacy, only raffle ticket numbers will be input into the List Generator. Your e-mail address will not be used.
