Bath Time

Luna and Henry

Just before kickoff on Sunday, the pugs had the pleasure of getting a bath. Henry is pretty impartial to baths, but Luna and Benjamin find them completely unnecessary.

After his bath, Henry was checking himself out in the mirror to see just how handsome he is. Luna, had just finished looking at herself in the mirror and determined that she in fact did not need a bath.

Benjamin

After Benny's bath, he immediately tried to get some dirt back on him. And of course he ran around the house like a wild man.

More Ear Cleaning

Luna and Henry

Henry was on ear cleaning duty again this weekend. It is very helpful that Henry is on top of ear cleaning. In addition to ears, Henry also like to clean eyes. He does a good job at that as well, except sometimes he almost licks the eye drops right out of Luna's eyes. He is on top of his grooming job a little bit too much some days.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Post Bath

Luna and Henry

Last night, 3 stinky pugs got brushed and bathed.

The pugs always shed, but they seem to go through spurts when they shed 10 times worse than usual. Right now is one of those times. When we brushed them in the backyard last night, the fur was flying! There were little tufts of fur flying everywhere! If we collected it all, I'm sure we would have had enough to make a fourth pug from it.

After the pugs were brushed, to the bath they went. They definitely left a ring around the tub because they were quite dirty puggers.

Post Bath

Luna

The pugs had so much fun on Sunday that the weekend ended with a bath. Not only did they get to go to the beach, but they got to see their friends Jennifer & Mary. Not only that, but they got to make a new friend named Corey and they got to meet a super sweet pug named Jade. Can I just tell you how much I love Jade? She was the cutest little thing and she reminded me so much of another little black pug that stole my heart.

Hopefully, Jennifer will be kind enough to share some of her pictures from the day with me. I was snapping pictures with my camera phone and they didn't come out very well. I am always very hesitant to take my camera to the beach. Juggling the leashes of the 3 pugs is hard enough. I can't imagine throwing a camera in the mix.

So for now, we have pictures of the pugs fresh from the bath.

Impromptu

Luna

One workday last week, I broke for lunch at my usual time and I took the pugs out to the yard to go potty as I usually do. It was a hot day and the pugs weren't too interested in doing much so they took the opportunity to sprawl out in the grass and catch some rays from the sun. I was quite hungry, so I told the pugs to enjoy the sun and I went back in the house to start preparing lunch. I knew the pugs would come in the house in a few minutes after they got hot. Plus, the pugs never miss the opportunity to beg for a few table scraps.

As I was toasting my bread, I peaked out the window and saw the pugs were right were I left them. I finished making my lunch and just as I sat down at the table to eat, I heard the doggie door flap open and in came Benjamin and Henry. About 2 minutes later, I heard the door flap again and I knew that Luna was making her way in from the yard. But before I saw here, I smelled her. The yummy smell of my lunch was suddenly overrun by the smell of poop.

As Luna sauntered over to me, I could see that her front shoulder was covered in poop. And even though, I didn't see how Luna came to be covered in poop, I knew exactly how it happened.

You know how Luna sometimes smells a smell that she feels the need to mark by rolling all over it? Well, I'm guessing she found one of those smells in the yard, but it must have been located next to poop. At least, that is what I think. I would hope the girl would not be silly enough to just roll in poop.

Having no other choice, I picked my lunch up off the table and carried Luna off for an impromptu bath in the set tub. We had quite a bit of fun getting her cleaned up and after about a good half hour of scrubbing and rinsing little Looney was smelling more like her usual self.

A Positive

Benjamin

One good thing to come out of Monday's sedation/surgery is that Benjamin got a very good toenail clipping. There was no fight, no fuss, no Cheerio negotiations, no "We'll do the back ones another day". Just a nice, short toenail trimming. However, I'm sure he is expecting some Cheerio back pay.

High Maintenance

Benjamin

I think Benjamin's wrinkles are one of his best features. Not only do they add to his charm, but they are also very kissable. But, take Benjamin's deep wrinkles and throw in a bit of the FL heat and humidity and you have the perfect recipe for stinkles.

So, when the temps start to rise we really need to be on top of Benny's wrinkle cleaning. If we miss just one cleaning, you can tell. Plus, if his wrinkles get too dirty he will take cleaning them into his own hands and will start rubbing his face on his paws and scratching at them with his hind paws. I hate for him to be uncomfortable so we do our very best to never let them get that dirty. But, it is amazing how dirty his wrinkles can get after a long walk or a quick trip to the dog park.

So from now until sometime in October, Benny has a date with me each morning to get a deep wrinkle cleaning. Plus, he gets one more quick face wipe before bed. Nobody said being so darn cute was easy.
