Henry likes to lay flat out on his back soaking up the sun a lot. When he gets up it is usually a gradual process. He will roll over to his side and then from there get back on his paws.
But, my favorite, is when he gets excited and tries to roll over in one swift motion, like in the picture. He will attempt to go from flat on his back to up on his paws and ready to run in one motion. If he makes it on his feet the first time, he gets even more excited and you can be sure that he will take off and run a few circles around something because nothing gets him more fired up than flipping up and landing on his feet on the first try.
Have a good weekend!

Since the weather has been very pug friendly the last week or so, the pugs have been way more active as of late. They are in the yard more soaking up the sun, we are back to going on quick walks at lunch and long walks in the evenings. During the summer the pugs don't dare attempt to walk during midday hours. Plus, the pugs can venture out with us in the car when we run some errands without getting overheated.
I know winter is settling in in many places and that means lots of cold weather and limited walks and pug activities. But in FL, winter is season that best agrees with pugs.

Over the weekend, we picked our first sweet potato from the garden. It was the first time we ever tried our hand at growing sweet potatoes and we were pleasantly surprised to find a potato growing under the dirt. When we planted the plants, I was kinda thinking we weren't going to have much luck.
So, now that we have this sweet potato, I need to find something to do with it. I thought about putting it in a soup I make, but I don't have any of the soup's other ingredients on hand. We need to make more food for the pugs tonight so I think I will bake it in the oven and add it to the pugs food. They love sweet potatoes and I am sure they would love to be the first tasters of the homegrown sweet potato.

Take a few pugs, add in a dash of cold weather and BOOM! Instant snuggle buddies.

If you asked the boys, they would say that this weekend's weather was perfect pug weather. If you ask the former Miami pug, she would tell you that it was way too cold for her liking the past two days.
On Saturday, we took the pugs to one of our favorite parks and when it is hot out we can barely get one lap around the lake in. But, since it was so cool outside, the pugs were eager to go for two laps.

On Sunday, we went to another park and got in another long walk. It was a bit earlier in the day, so Luna sported a red hoodie to keep warm. About halfway through the walk, Luna warmed up enough and was able to shed her jacket.
Later on Sunday evening it was blanket and couch time. All 3 of the pugs could agree that sofa, pillow and blanket time was super cozy.

When I was shooting the pictures of the pugs for the back page of the 2011 calendar, Henry was feeling a little silly and Luna must have thought that she had some lunch left on her nose. I have a series of shots of the little girl licking her nose.
Calendar Update: The 2011 Calendar is currently being printed. I approved the proof earlier in the week and printing is now in full force. I expect the calendars will go on sale starting November 22, 2010. I will send out emails to everyone with a picture in the calendar on or around November 15, 2010.
Have a great weekend!

This morning, around 6:30 am, I heard the doggie door flap and saw Benny making his way out to the yard to go potty. Little did Benny know, but it was raining. Benny took two steps on the covered lanai, discovered it was raining and immediately turned and came back inside.
Once inside the doggie door, he just stood there. I guess he was weighing his options and hoping that I didn't see him go outside. But, I did, and I wasn't about to let him walk around the house knowing he has to go potty. So, I made him go back outside to go potty. Of course, I had to go out with him, because there was no way he was going to go out in the rain by himself. He begrudgingly obliged and when we came back in I toweled him dry. But he made it clear, that even though he was now dry, it didn't matter because he still got wet this morning. I'm sure he'll be cranky all day because of it.
