Happy Birthday, Benjamin!

On Sunday Baby Benny will turn 9 years old. It seems like only yesterday he was always racing around the house and eating my shoelaces.

In honor of Benny's birthday, I would like share a few of my favorite Benny blog moments.

I'm not exactly sure what we are going to do to celebrate Benny's special day, but I will be sure to tell you all about it on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Inseparable

Benjamin

Wherever Benny goes puffy is sure to follow.

This is pretty much the scene every morning. Benny finds puffy and hunkers down on the couch. Whenever Benny is feeling content, like right after he eats, you can be sure that puffy will be with him.

Part of me can't believe that he still carries puffy around. Puffy was the first toy given to him by G-Ma almost 9 years ago. The fact that it is still intact is amazing!

Helpers

Benjamin, Henry and Luna

We have been doing a lot of yard work lately and since the weather has been so nice the pugs have been "helping" us.

So they can help and we can have our hands free, we use 15' leashes and hook them to a stake in the ground. We setup some towels and a bowl a water near the front door so that they can have shade when they want it but they can also get a little sun.

When we first go out into the yard, they start out full steam ahead, sitting in the sun. But, after about 15 minutes of watching us work they have retreated back to the shade.

By about the half hour mark, I even heard Benny snoring.

Oops!

Henry and Benjamin

Remember how I said the pugs were model doggie citizens when we went on our latest adventure? Well, I forgot about this little episode until I was looking at my pictures. The boys got a little fired up while crossing our first street. It looks like Henry is trying to run Benny off the road.

Puggy Road

Benjamin and Henry

To help make up for yesterday's lost hour, we decided to celebrate the extra daylight hour by taking the pugs on a Sunday drive and going for a little walk in a different neighborhood. Since the pugs had never been there before they were super excited and were high energy the whole time.

There were a few streets that we crossed on our walk and I just love the way the pugs always stayed in the cross walk. They are very good doggie citizens.

Reinforcement

Benjamin

The boys have this thing where if one of them barks, the other comes running as backup. Luna often joins them, but a lot of times she is busy and doesn't really care what her silly brothers are barking at. However, you can always count on the boys to go running if there hear the other one barking.

Yesterday morning, Henry heard a noise coming from the backyard area, so he bolted out the doggie door and off in the direction of the noise barking his head off. Benjamin, promptly sprung into action as well, although it was clear that he didn't hear anything. The only issue is that it was raining yesterday morning. So rather than bolt into the yard with his brother, Benjamin stood at the doggie door that leads outside and barked his head off. A win win in his eyes. He provided moral support for his bro, albeit from a distance, and stayed nice and dry inside the house.

Caption This #182

Benjamin and Henry

I am pretty sure I posted this picture for Caption This a few years ago, but since there are a lot more OBPers around now, I thought I would post it again. It is a favorite picture of mine that was taken in May 2004 at a Pug meetup in Maryland.

Looking forward to your captions in the comments.

Temptation

Benjamin

The other morning, Benjamin pulled up a chair at the breakfast table and was eyeing my banana. The evil part of me loves to test the pugs. Especially, when it is a choice between something they really want (food) and something they know they shouldn't do (eat off the table).

So, while Benny was eyeing my banana, I moved the banana to the edge of the table so that it was easily in Benny's reach. He sniffed it a few times and then played it cool. He learned a while ago, the hard way I might add, that bananas are foods you peel before you eat. So, I knew that an unpeeled banana wasn't going to be much of a temptation for him.

So, I opened the banana just a tad and sat it back on the table. Benny became much more interested and smelled the banana and then licked his lips and smelled the banana a bit more. He looked at the banana, then looked at me, back at the banana and then back to me. It was as if he knew it was one of my sinister tests. So, I of course caved and give him, Henry and Luna a few bites of banana.

The Anatomy of the Chase

The four pictures below were taken in a 2 second span while Benjamin and Henry were chasing each other on the beach. After, I pulled the pictures off my camera, I couldn't help but laugh.

Benjamin and Henry

Nothing unusual going on here. Henry caught up to Benny and is showing him a little brotherly love.

Benjamin and Henry

Benjamin, quickly turns the tables on Henry and swings around and is doing his best to pounce on Henry.

Benjamin and Henry

But, Henry swings his hips wide and from the looks of the sand it looks like Benny is hitting the brakes.

And the next photo in the series is the one above. I have no idea how the boys ended up like this. Apparently, Benjamin zigged when he should have zagged. And the look on Henry's face with his ears flipped up is priceless. I'm not sure what he is doing with his paw either.

A lot can go on in 2 seconds.
